Bonus time!

Hi

Was just thinking about the new box and thought I would just take a quick look at the new aspect and basic cards as a quick mini review, and maybe share some of my thoughts

Fighting fit

So a 2 cost deal 5 that can only go face is not great. Firstly when I look at cards like this I first try to look what else is available. In protect I don’t think there is a card like this so far, I think the closest thing is momentum shift, and that’s only because it deals damage. The closest basic that a protection card could play is haymaker which is only a deal 3 but can hit minions as well. The fact this only deals damage to the main villain makes it a very narrow card, and spending 2 to deal 5 doesn’t seem appealing to me. Protection is the beat down typically and so you will prob only have this and your hero specific card that deals damage and to be honest, ones enough for most decks. Ill be hard pressed to put this in any deck.

Hard to ignore

Now here is a more interesting card! Looking at what other cards are available to protection there has been a real lack of thwart and damage, which has meant that you kind of end up spinning your wheels a bit, but now with this and bait and switch, you can be more helpful than being the teams punching bag.

I can see this being great in multiples and helps with other things such as cheap ways to thin your deck. I will be sure to check this out.

Ok next up is Starhawk

So having more cheap meat shields is always good, and the fact that at 2 cost, the bar is set very low to what ill play. I can see the ability being a bit fiddly to get to work but if it does it could be ripe for some good card advantage. Minions look out you might actually want them around so you can keep bouncing him to use with any combos that be in the future, such as knowwhere.

Dauntless

So retaliate is a nice way to add some damage to minions and the villain without having to do much and the fact that this costs 1 is nice as well and characters that already do this  such as captain America and black panther having ways to stack the effect would make it stronger. You have to make sure you are at full health or better for this so it could work with the endurance cards and things of that effect, but the fact that this might be “off” sometimes means overall I’m not sure if this will  have enough bang for your buck in most decks, but I will give it a go to see.

Deft focus

Do you have a hero with a lot of superpowers? If so put 1 copy in and be happy if not maybe skip this one. I actually like running cards like this (avengers tower, team building, nerves of steel, etc..) even if I don’t run a large number of those cards in your deck (say at least 3 or 4) they are just so good when you can use them and little cost to you, I just don’t run more than one copy as I don’t want to overload. Cards like tower are better as other heroes can use them as well, but I could see Captain marvel, quick silver, Spiderwoman and ms marvel could all use this card well, so this gets the thumbs up from me

Looking for trouble

My first thought is Thor, as he already has an effect like this and its quite good. Maybe you don’t want too many of this effect but I am willing to try as wit Thor these read “and draw 2 cards” on the end. I could also see it going into decks like black widow where you could lie in wait and widows bite the minion that appears, basically any hero that can use the minion that appears and this could be decent. Other aggression heroes that lack in thwart might still want to use it if dealing with the allies is easier than dealing with 3 threat from the main scheme. Overall I’m willing to try this and should be a good addition in aggressions pool.

Follow through

Seems like help for other cards such as into the Frey and moment of triumph but also with overkill as well in a way. Note that this doesn’t help you to deal excesses damage you have to do that yourself and for that reason and the fact it costs two, I don’t see it being in any of my decks until I can build around it more

Hand cannon

Plus two attack and overkill seems like a slightly upgraded skilled strike which by itself isn’t all that exciting. The fact you can use it twice seems nice but not enough to play over other cards in my opinion. Now where this gets better is the Tech keyword meaning iron man and rocket might want it in their lists for that reason alone (its like FFG prints cards that work with the hero that it came with?!)

Bug

See Starhawk, 2 cost does stuff, takes one for the team, I’m in the healing part is cute and I could see it being good as a pseudo black cat so maybe he wont be the fly on the villains windscreen but yeah I can see this going in a lot of my aggressive decks going forward.

Booster boots

Its tech (see hand cannon) but iron man cannot run it currently (shame) but I can see this being decent. Prenoting one damage at the cost of the top card isn’t a big ask and the people who will want to use it like Starlord (who?) it can be good. Look for more ways to use this when you know the top card of your deck, but for this to be great more was to be a guardian would be needed.

On a side note I actually like that they are making cards that aren’t just free for everyone (provided there ant too many) as it will make for interesting choices going forward so every deck doesn’t become the same set of cards every time. Now you can think do you want to be an avenger or an guardian and that’s cool.

Hope this helps when looking at the new stuff and have fun with the new set, I know I will be!

Hit or miss?

Hi everyone! Check out these two side schemes    Is one more important to deal with than the other?   What about these two minions?   What factors should you consider when deciding to deal with it this turn? Should you even deal with it?   A lot of people when confronted with a scheme or minion will jump to first think what’s the best way to remove that from the board. But maybe the question should be what is it doing to the game state?   Check this out   Once this card has done its thing, what is the difference between this card and an advance token? What about his one? Is there a difference between this and playing on heroic 1 if you left it in play? How bad is that for you?   Well let’s try to thing about the factors that goes into answering these questions The first question for me would be what difficulty am I playing on? One extra threat a turn could be easy to manage if I’m on standard where I’m not expec...

OH YEAH!

Hey  So my copy of galaxies most wanted came the other day and I was super excited to play it. My kid wanted to be Groot and I so was set on being this guy I thought I would share my deck building so far so maybe some people could get some insights into how I build decks in this game. Disclaimer I don't actually own all the cards so if you ever look at my list and go but why has he not added x? well now you know. ok now to the first build ok so check out version 1 Firstly I wanted so check out some of the new cards so I started with hand cannon, bug, looking for trouble and thruster boots. I found hand cannon to be good but not great, a large part of that was because in our particular set up for the games I have to do the main part of thwarting and so I found myself having a plan more often than attacking. Rocket also has great tech cards by themselves and so I found I wanted his set ups more than the big attack. this also meant that mean swing was not at its best here eithe...

The greatest protector

Hi   It's been a while since my last post but I thought you should check out this latest Spiderman build I have because I think its real fun! Let's check out the deck list first https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/10053/spider-man-protection-1.0 ok so what's the idea behind the deck? so the idea is being attacked is not that bad for you, and in fact a lot of the time its quite good!  every time the villain attacks you you get to draw a card. this helps in a couple of ways.  1) Resources.  Having an extra card means more stuff to play on your own turn and outside of the couple      of 4 cost cards, most of the deck is cheap leading to more turns where you can play two things in a   turn. 2)  It helps get past the bad draws.  every time you draw you are less likely to have the turns where you have all defensive tricks and nothing to do with them. drawing into one more card can help you set up. next is this card now its no surprise tha...
